Volunteer Coordinator

Oversee and lead the Melodia Care Hospice Volunteer Program by recruiting, training, supervising, and retaining volunteers to support patients, families, and administrative operations. This full-time leadership role ensures compliance with hospice regulations, strengthens community engagement, and maintains a structured, mission-driven volunteer workforce. The Volunteer Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between executive leadership and all program volunteers.

Position Summary:

Oversee and lead the Melodia Care Hospice Volunteer Program by recruiting, training, supervising, and retaining volunteers to support patients, families, and administrative operations. This full-time leadership role ensures compliance with hospice regulations, strengthens community engagement, and maintains a structured, mission-driven volunteer workforce. The Volunteer Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between executive leadership and all program volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage the hospice volunteer program in compliance with CMS and state hospice regulations
  • Recruit volunteers through community outreach, partnerships, events, and digital platforms
  • Screen, interview, onboard, and train new volunteers
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records, background checks, health documentation, and training logs
  • Assign volunteers to appropriate roles (administrative, patient support, bereavement, events, etc.)
  • Provide ongoing supervision, mentorship, and performance feedback to volunteers
  • Ensure all volunteers complete required training and annual competencies
  • Track volunteer hours and generate required compliance reports
  • Plan volunteer appreciation initiatives and retention strategies
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to assess volunteer needs
  • Address volunteer concerns, resolve conflicts, and maintain program standards
  • Report program metrics and performance updates to the CMO
  • Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance across all volunteer activities

Time Commitment:

Full-Time Position

Hours per week: 40 hours

Schedule: Monday – Friday, standard business hours (may require occasional evenings or weekends for events or recruitment activities)

Location:

Primarily at Melodia Care office location

May require occasional travel within service areas for recruitment events, community outreach, or partner meetings

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Healthcare Administration, Business, Marketing, Social Work, or related field
  • Experience in volunteer management, healthcare administration, community engagement, or hospice/home health preferred
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent organizational and documentation abilities
  • Knowledge of CMS hospice volunteer requirements preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and database management systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Clear background check
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if travel required)
